Matilda Andersson b.1990 is a vocalist, composer and artist based in Gothenburg originally from the village Algutsorp., Tranemo in Sweden.
She resides in Gothenburg and performning in alternative jazz and improvised music that she seamlessly intertwine with her influences from Swedish traditional folk music and indie pop. Matilda is foremost active with her own group Fartyg 6 and the septet Olimpias Orkan alongside projects with other musicians, composers and artists. In October 2021 she released the third album Osmund with Fartyg 6 on the Swedish record label PACAYA Records.
Since a young age she let the poetry, music and art be her main way of expressing, highly influenced by life itself. Small moments that made big impact; relationships, surrounding nature, environments and filosophy. Words about words indequancy.
Her discography reaches to seven records plus guest recordings of others. She perform with her own groups as well as in various project with other ensembles, artists and composers. As a vocal artist she has collaborated with composers in electro acoustic music like Mirjam Tally and Zuriñe Fernández Gerenabarrena as well as in performance projects with artists like Linnea Jardemark, Lars Åsling and the holostic bureau of investigation. Matilda has been touring actively in Sweden and internationally in Europe and Asia with several groups and solo. (Olimpias Orkan, Fartyg 6, Andersson/Åsling Sellius, Emma) She has a great interest in Japan’s culture and music life and have e with free improvisation performances, meeting and collaborating with other musicians and creators.
She is collaborating with different creative expressions. One of them is with the project Löpa Linan ut: a multi disciplinary performance including circus, textile art and music.
Matilda is beside performing also artistic director and project leader of music- and arts event. She is the founder and C:O-producer of the Swedish jazz club Klubb Impuls since 2014 and have produced and been involved in many events such as Ljusår/Ljudår, Nordens Puls, klubb Ljus&Brus, Skogsfesten and Tranemo Jazzdagar. She has also been hired to work with Swedish Arts Council, VG region as a professional in the music field, to examine applications. She is also hired for projects such in releases and concerts to help with text work and marketing.
Alongside the music business, Matilda has continued with her art in sculpture, graphical print, ceramics and installation. For the love of creating.
